Before I begin this post, I would just like to state that I am not homesick. I miss things about Kentucky, but I wouldn't say that I am homesick. Okay, now that I have addressed that, let's talk about how this week went.
First off, the school side of things are going great! I'm still not 100% used to the schedule yet, but I'm getting there. The teachers trust me a lot though, because one of the 3rd class teachers was out this week for a few days, so they had me play substitute, since they could not find a sub for her class. It started as being a couple of hours for the first two days, but on Thursday (yesterday) I was the sub all day. Basically, I was an unpaid substitute for the class. I wasn't in there alone all day. The special education for one of the students was in the classroom for most of the day. The other 3rd class teacher is in the connecting room, so she was in and out of the class as well. Finally, the art/music/choir/Irish/math/I don't know what else teacher, was in there in the morning and afternoon to help out. I got to run my own classroom for those couple of days, and I finally felt what it was really like to be a teacher. They gave me a few things that I could do, so I fit in what I could.
Then, we come to the night of Thanksgiving, after school. For Amber and I, we didn't want to pack our day with American traditions or explore. We wanted a nice, relaxing night in, which is what we did. We ordered pizza and chips (also known as fries in America), and we video chatted family & friends from back in Kentucky. When the calls were over, we snuggled under our duvets and watched Netflix for the rest of the night.
Pretty exciting, huh? I love exploring Ireland and getting to take it all in, but I also just like to have chill time to collect my thoughts and rest my body. Our Black Friday will most likely be another free day, since we have no school. We are talking about going to a place called Viking Splash Tours, but nothing too extravagant. Our school had a form of a PD, but only members of the union were allowed to attend, so Daniel and Jennette gave us the day off.
Glad to hear you are NOT homesick! What a great experience you seem to be having.
