The Beginning of the Adventure

Amber & I are FINALLY settled in. Our host family is amazing. Ireland is amazing. The trip has been amazing so far. I can't truly express how blessed I feel to be here!

After a long flight from Louisville to Chicago to Dublin, we met up with Daniel early this morning. He took us to our host family's house, where it took about 10 minutes to get in.

Fun story time!
We got to the Sheridan's house, where we'll be staying, at around 6:30 a.m. Dublin time. John, the dad, was fast asleep in the living room. He ended up trying to stay up to wait for us, but ended up falling asleep. Daniel knocked on the door, then the window, & then rang the doorbell. This continued for about 10 minutes: knock, window, doorbell. Daniel asked us if we wanted to wait in the car, but then saw us snickering & said, "You're having way too much fun with this, aren't you?" Of course, we shook or head as we continue to snicker. Finally, Jacquie, the mom, finally heard us & answered the door. She woke John up after, apologized, & showed us to our rooms. Such a great memory!

Later today, after we rested up, Jacquie made us breakfast, & then John took us on a mini tour of town. We have our official orientation in the morning, but he showed us a shortcut home from the market. Amber and I explored a bit later & found a cute coffee shop, called Insomnia Coffee Company, & then we headed home for dinner. Jacquie made us pasta with chicken & marinara sauce. It was delicious! Currently, we are watching Ireland play Canada in rugby, & I think I'm starting to really like this sport.

I'm loving everything about this place! The people are very nice. The view is beautiful. The atmosphere is welcoming. I feel like I'm at home. I still can't believe this is real!

Tomorrow begins the orientation, & we're having a true traditional Irish dinner. We're also meeting the family. I'm super excited! I couldn't have asked for a better host family!  Thank you so much Dublin for the great start to our adventure. I'm ready to see what the rest of the month has in store for us.
